Admissions

An Admissions Counselor serves as a primary recruiter of prospective students to St. Joseph's University, New York.

RESPONSIBLILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Assist prospective first-year, transfer, adult, graduate and international students through the enrollment funnel.
  • Manage an assigned recruitment territory
  • Interview and host prospective students and meet with their families.
  • Evaluate completed first-year and transfer applications for decision, and assign transfer credit as well as merit-based scholarship.
  • Counsel prospective students via phone, zoom, email and texting platforms.
  • Represent St. Joseph's University at on campus and off campus recruitment events.
  • Act as liaison with departments or projects of assigned special programs.
  • Assist with various admissions tasks as directed by the Office of Admissions.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be able to travel independently throughout New York City. Valid driver’s license preferred.
  • Ability to be organized and pay attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize workload according to volume, urgency, cycle etc.
  • Ability to work some evenings and occasional weekends.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the Google Suite (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets)

EDUCATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's Degree required, plus 1-2 years related experience preferred.
