Medical Office Clerk Location Hampton, VA :

COMPANY OVERVIEW: Health Partners Management Group, Inc (HPMG) is a government contracting company in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. HPMG currently has a contract with the Federal Government at Langley AFB. You would be a W-2 employee for HPMG and NOT a government employee.

JOB SUMMARY: Provides clerical/administrative support in wards, clinics, or other clinical departments of a medical treatment facility.

SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday; 7:30 am - 4:30 pm (1-hour unpaid lunch)

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A minimum of 6 months experience in an office setting
  • Typing 50 WPM is required
  • High school diploma or GED
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Obtain and maintain a BLS Certification from the Red Cross or AHA
  • Provide proof of immunizations including current flu vaccine, TB test, tetanus, chicken pox, MMR and hep B.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 6 months experience in a medical office setting.

PERFORMANCE OUTCOMES:

  • Greets patients/visitors at a front desk, information center or office setting.
  • Answers main office phone line. Directs telephone calls to appropriate section for assistance. Takes messages as required.
  • Arranges and schedules medical appointments and determines patient eligibility for services. Determine patient eligibility, schedule appointments, relay general instructions to patients, or make referrals to other sections.
  • Obtains updates and files medical records as needed.
  • Organizes and researches patient records, extract needed information, and review records for completeness, accuracy, and consistency within established guidelines.
  • Ensures arrival of medical records prior to appointment(s).
  • Initiates and locates patient medical records as needed.
  • Obtains documentation as requested by healthcare providers (test results, or documentation not yet filed in records).
  • Performs other administrative and clerical duties in support of the medical care and operational support.
  • Creates appointment schedules and templates in patient appointment computer system.
  • Conducts end-of-day process at close of business and resolves any delinquent or pending appointments in computer system.

UNIQUE MILITARY HEALTH CARE SYSTEMS/PROCEDURES:

  • Specific military systems include, but are not limited to: The Composite Health Care Systems (CHCS), MHS GENESIS, AHLTA, ICD programs, government data repositories such as P2R2 Virtual Analyst, M2 Data Mart, Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), Population Health Operational Tracking and Optimization Systems, Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS), Medical Expense and Performance Reporting System, Third Party Collections, Defense Pharmacy System, Radiology and PACS, Automated Business Services System and Commanders' Resource Integration System.
  • Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA)
  • Composite Health Care Systems (CHCS) and/or MHS GENESIS
  • Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS)
  • Military Filing System - by sponsor social security, terminal digit order, color-coded and blocked filing system.
  • Contents of a military medical record, layout, sections, family members prefix designation, forms used in a MTF, and the medical record tracking procedures.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The work is primarily sedentary. However, there may be some physical demands. Requirements include prolonged walking, standing, sitting or bending.
