Job Title: Cisco ASA / Network Security Engineer
Location: Minneapolis, MN (90% Onsite, 10% Remote)
Duration: 6 months (Contract)
Job Overview:
We are seeking a Cisco ASA / Network Security Engineer to support secure and high-performance network operations. The role will focus on maintaining Cisco ASA firewalls, managing VPNs, and supporting telephony and call processing systems in a municipal IT environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in Cisco security platforms, network infrastructure, and vendor management for critical enterprise services.
Key Responsibilities:
Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco ASA firewalls and VPN solutions to ensure network security and availability.
Support telephony and call processing systems, including integrations with network security policies.
Collaborate with vendors for issue escalation, maintenance, and updates to telephony and network systems.
Participate in planning, migration, and implementation of new network or telephony solutions.
Assist in gathering requirements for network security and telephony-related projects.
Provide technical guidance to internal teams and coordinate with cross-functional IT staff.
Document network and firewall configurations, incidents, and resolution procedures.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of hands-on experience with Cisco ASA firewalls, VPNs, and network security.
Strong knowledge of routing, switching, and LAN/WAN technologies.
Experience supporting telephony or call processing systems is a plus.
Demonstrated experience working with vendors and managing support contracts.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Cisco certifications such as CCNA Security, CCNP Security, or CCIE.
Experience with hybrid network and telephony environments.
Knowledge of municipal IT environments or public sector network security standards.
