We have an outstanding Contract position for a Cisco/Palo Alto Engineer to join a leading Company located in the Annapolis Junction, MD surrounding area.

Pay Rate: $75

We are seeking a highly skilled Cisco/Palo Alto Network Engineer to join our team and play a critical role in modernizing and maintaining our complex network infrastructure. This position requires deep expertise in network engineering, a strong understanding of legacy systems, and the ability to design and implement solutions that support hybrid environments combining on-premises, cloud, and distributed systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement network solutions leveraging Cisco and Palo Alto technologies
• Support efforts to transition from legacy mainframe and distributed systems to modern, cloud-enabled environments.
• Ensure minimal disruption during migrations and upgrades.
• Analyze network performance and troubleshoot complex issues across hybrid environments.
• Optimize configurations to improve reliability, security, and efficiency.
• Assess how changes in one part of the network affect other components and services.
• Provide recommendations to mitigate risks and maintain system integrity.
• Implement robust security policies using Palo Alto firewalls and Cisco security solutions.
• Ensure compliance with organizational and industry standards.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams (cloud, infrastructure, security) to align network strategies.
• Maintain detailed documentation of network architecture, configurations, and processes.

Required Qualifications

• Technical Expertise:
  • 7-10 years of experience in network engineering with Cisco and Palo Alto technologies.
  • Strong understanding of routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, and network segmentation.
• Hybrid Environment Experience:
  • Proven experience managing networks that include legacy mainframe systems, distributed architectures, and cloud platforms.
  • Familiarity with multiple user access points and protocols across a single network.
• Analytical Skills:
  • Ability to anticipate and evaluate the impact of network changes across interconnected systems.
• Certifications (Preferred):
  • Cisco CCNP/CCIE
  • Palo Alto PCNSE

Preferred Skills

• Experience with network automation and scripting (Python, Ansible).
• Knowledge of cloud networking (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Familiarity with Zero Trust architecture and advanced security frameworks.
