Responsible for the cutting and grinding of ceramic materials to blueprint specifications. The tile fabricator reports to the Group Leader or Production Supervisor for assignments and assistance. Position requires the incumbent to be cross-trained and proficient in all functions performed in the tile cutting room.
Skills Required1. Responsible for the set-up of saws, grinder, and cutting/grinding/drilling of tile/armor panels to required specifications. 2. Grinds billets by hand and/or with the use of a surface grinder. 3. Responsible for identifying billets and properly laying out parts to be cut. 4. Must ensure that all work meets required specifications. 5. Labels finished parts with part numbers. 6. Assist with daily clean-up of the tile cutting area and maintain a safe working environment. 7. Assist less experienced Tile Fabricators with set-ups and lay outs. 8. Perform SPC per SOP 8 on jobs required. 9. Perform preventative maintenance on equipment 10. Performs other duties, consistent with the position, as required or assigned.
Skills Preferred
Experience Required1. Machine Shop or Vocational Technology training or equivalent combination of training and experience. 2. Experience setting-up machines in the tile cutting room; introductory experience using surface grinders; experience processing aluminum oxide and boron carbide tile. 3. Skill in using basic hand and power tools, reading blueprints and mathematics (Trigonometry & Algebra with knowledge of mechanical environments and applications.
