At Living Room, the Prep Cook is an essential member of our culinary team, responsible for the foundational tasks that ensure our kitchen operates smoothly. As a Prep Cook, you’ll be at the heart of the kitchen, supporting the chefs by preparing ingredients, maintaining a clean workspace, and contributing to the overall success of each service.

• Ingredient Preparation: Accurately and efficiently prepare ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping, and slicing vegetables, preparing meats, and other essential tasks to ensure readiness for cooking.
• Food Safety & Sanitation: Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines, ensuring a clean and organized work area. This includes properly storing ingredients, labeling food items, and maintaining cleanliness in all prep areas.
• Assisting Chefs: Support the kitchen team by setting up and stocking stations with necessary supplies, preparing components for dishes, and assisting in other tasks as needed during service.
• Quality Control: Ensure that all prepared ingredients meet the quality standards of Living Room, paying attention to detail to maintain the consistency and excellence of our dishes.
• Kitchen Maintenance: Assist with the cleaning of kitchen equipment, dishes, and workspaces at the end of shifts, contributing to a well-maintained kitchen environment.

Requirements

• Experience: Previous experience as a Prep Cook or in a similar role is preferred, but not required. A strong willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced kitchen environment is essential.
• Culinary Skills: Basic understanding of cooking techniques and kitchen equipment. Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
• Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail, particularly when it comes to preparing ingredients and maintaining cleanliness.
• Team Player: Ability to work well in a team environment, supporting chefs and fellow kitchen staff to ensure a smooth service.
• Physical Stamina: Capable of standing for long periods and handling the physical demands of a busy kitchen.
• Flexible Schedule: Availability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Food Handler’s Certificate: Must possess or be willing to obtain a valid food handler’s certificate.
