Job Title: Senior SQL Developer

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and innovative Senior SQL Developer (7+ years) with strong Azure SQL expertise to support a next-generation mobile sports betting application. This role will focus on designing and optimizing highly scalable database solutions in a regulated environment while working alongside developers, DevOps, and business stakeholders to ensure system reliability, speed, and security.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Azure SQL Database solutions (with emphasis on Azure SQL Hyperscale).
- Implement and manage high availability configurations (geo-replication, failover groups, backup/restore strategies).
- Optimize and tune T-SQL queries, indexes, and stored procedures for performance across large, complex datasets.
- Develop and support ETL workflows (SSIS or equivalent) and reporting (SSRS, Power BI) for data integration and analytics.
- Collaborate with DevOps/Infrastructure teams to automate provisioning, scaling, and monitoring using tools like Azure DevOps, PowerShell, and ARM/Bicep templates.
- Ensure data security, compliance, and access control in a cloud-based SQL environment, adhering to gaming regulatory standards.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for SQL code deployments.
- Lead disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution.
- Analyze evolving business requirements and design efficient, reliable, and scalable database schemas to support sports wagering applications.
- Provide mentorship to junior developers and contribute to best practice documentation.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of hands-on SQL development and database administration experience.
- Expert proficiency with T-SQL (queries, stored procedures, performance tuning).
- Strong knowledge of Azure SQL Database and Azure ecosystem (Hyperscale, Failover Groups, Active Geo-Replication).
- Proven experience in database design, optimization, and normalization.
- Solid experience with ETL pipelines and data integration frameworks.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex SQL performance issues across large-scale systems.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working in regulated or highly available production environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with reporting/analytics tools (Power BI, SSRS, Tableau).
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling.
- Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Basic scripting knowledge (Python, PowerShell) for data-related tasks.
- Exposure to sports wagering or gaming industry concepts
