About the Role

Knexus is a high-growth AI solutions provider to the US Government and a Google Premier Partner . As our Director of Business Development , you will be the engine driving our expansion .

This isn't a standard GovCon sales role. We deliver custom, cutting-edge AI solutions leveraging the Google AI tech stack ( GCP, Gemini, Vertex AI, Agentic workflows) to solve mission-critical problems for the DoD and FedCiv agencies. You will be responsible for full-lifecycle business development and capture, turning our qualified $100M+ pipeline into realized revenue.

We operate with a startup pulse and need a "figure it out" leader who takes extreme ownership, understands the nuances of consultative technology sales, and isn't afraid to build the playbook while they run it.

Responsibilities

As the Director of Business Development , your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Strategic Positioning: Identify and pursue emerging opportunities across DoD and Federal Civilian agencies where Knexus' AI and automation capabilities deliver distinctive value.
  • Pipeline Growth and Execution: Drive and expand our $100M+ pipeline by rigorously qualifying opportunities and maximizing win rates.
  • Capture Leadership: Lead end-to-end capture efforts for high-priority opportunities. Spearhead the identify and qualify phase for these, ensuring we are effectively 'hunting' for mission-critical needs.
  • Consultative Sales: Work with GS-15/SES level decision-makers to translate mission requirements into tailored AI solutions that bridge technical capabilities with operational outcomes.
  • Proposal Collaboration: Work with technical teams and executive leadership to craft compelling win themes, value propositions, and competitive pricing strategies for complex proposals.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Proven track record in Federal BD and Capture, ideally from a top-tier consulting firm or high-growth GovCon /Defense technology company.
  • AI/Tech Fluency: You understand cloud architecture, machine learning concepts, and the transformative potential of Generative AI. You can hold your own in a room with data scientists and senior government IT leaders.
  • Startup DNA: Self-starter who thrives in ambiguity, takes initiative proactively, and demonstrates relentless resourcefulness in solving complex challenges.
  • Proven Closer: Demonstrated history of winning $5M-$50M+ contracts and task orders, with deep expertise navigating the federal procurement cycle from RFI to Award.
  • Networker: Established relationships within DoD and Federal Civilian sectors with proven ability to navigate complex organizational structures and reach key decision-makers.
  • Communication Excellence: Exceptional ability to translate complex AI concepts into accessible, compelling narratives that resonate with mission owners and drive decision-making.
